Increasing real estate disputes

More and more public attention has been focused on the ever-increasing disputes between real estate management companies and proprietors.

Although the Regulations on Realty Management were put into effect in September last year, troubles still keep emerging. The real estate management companies, which are new in China, have a number of drawbacks. Due to the hangover from the planned economy, they tend to act as supervisors of the proprietors, and are not willing to get down to work for them.

This must be changed in our market economy. The real estate management companies and the proprietors are equal entities. The former is duty-bound to render service to the latter in accordance with their contract. The real estate companies have no right to lord it over the proprietors.

The only way of addressing the conflict between the two parties is to call on the real estate companies to observe the rules of a market economy and readjust their roles.
